The American Democracy Project (ADP) encompasses hundreds of colleges and universities across the United States, including Fredonia. Regardless of location, all campuses have a goal of helping students become more familiar with democracy and the benefits of being involved in the democratic process. The American Democracy Project (ADP) encourages students to become civically engaged. This starts with an awareness of society and current events. ADP strives to make civic engagement approachable and understandable for students all around the United States.
Fredonia's chapter of ADP was formed in 2016 with the goal of educating students to become engaged in civic issues through participatory democracy as well as to encourage students to become well-informed voters and to appreciate the impact that voter participation can have. ADP seeks to give students the opportunity to learn about a variety of current issues by offering both information and encouraging dialogue. Through these opportunities students develop a better understanding of the democratic process and how they can engage with this process.
